Scottish Power!
February 25th, 2009 by Barry PotierTwo recent initiatives announced and supported by Scottish Energy Minister Jim Mather and First Minister Alex Salmond, show just how the extreme weather conditions in Scotland are bringing power to the people. These two new initiatives concern a hydro electric scheme capable of powering up to 700 homes and the second relates to the wealth of natural resources in wind, wave and tidal power. Scotland claims to possess within these three natural resource sectors up to 25% of Europes renewable energy potential. Scotland is fast emerging as the powerhouse of marine renewables.
Although this is great news for Scotland, recent analysis of the most efficient and generatitive renewable energy sources suggest that solar power holds the key. Unfortunately for Scotland this is not a resource that they have in abundance. If you have a view on Scotland and it’s burgeoning marine and hydro energy potential, and how it may be able to exploit the limited amount of solar power available we would love to hear from you.
