Will you be taking advantage of the January transfer window?

December 11th, 2012 by Richard Lawrance
Will you be taking advantage of the January transfer window?
Many people make the conscious decision to change jobs at this time of year. Some will take advantage of the extended break to organise themselves to initiate the first steps towards finding that next role, but for many their new year’s resolution will simply be to change jobs. While getting a new job is not top of the list it is right up there at number 5 in the Top Ten Resolutions for 2012.
TOP TEN RESOLUTIONS FOR 2012
1. Lose weight
2. Get fit
3. Eat more healthily
4. Save money/spend less
5. Get a new job
6. Spend more time with people who matter
7. Try new experiences
8. Get out of a rut
9. Visit a country you’ve never been to
10. Read more
Although so many start with good intentions, the majority will abandon them within a month, many even sooner. So what does this mean for those companies seeking to add to their talent banks.  What it means is that there is a small window of opportunity where talent that is normally passive becomes active and receptive to the concept of moving jobs.
At Resourcing Solutions this trend has not go unnoticed. January 2nd is the one day of year where supply dramatically increases. The challenge for recruiters is to strike while the iron is hot, and persuade companies to act fast in order to win the race to secure their services before someone else does, or before  the motivation to move fades and the moment is lost.  Does this sound familiar?
Many companies are caught napping early in the New Year.  It really is the best time to recruit, and the saying “the early bird gets the worm” is very appropriate here.  So while you may not have the spending power of Roman Abramovich, you may want to consider strengthening your squad at a time when you will probably enjoy selecting the best choice for you from a bigger pool of available talent.
Call us now to register your critical needs for next year, and beat your competitors in the January transfer window.
The moves you make now will shape how 2013 looks for you and your business.
Have a wonderful Christmas and prosperous New Year from all of the Resourcing Solutions team.

Lord Young Backs Recruitment Agencies

November 26th, 2009 by Barry Potier

The most fundamental right is to have a job but this must be balanced against fairness and the rights of workers, Lord Young, minister for postal affairs and employment relations at the department for business, innovation and skills (BIS), told the REC National Convention in London today.

He told the audience of around 200 delegates that the government recognised that many workers enjoy agency work, as it gives them the flexibility and an opportunity to re-enter the labour market: “I see recruitment agencies making a positive contribution to this.” (more…)

Getting the best from your Recruitment Consultant

October 30th, 2009 by Barry Potier

Helen Gotts latest blog post articulates how Candidates can get the best from Recruitment Agencies and Consultants.

‘Whatever your opinion of recruitment consultants, there is no denying that in the current overcrowded and competitive job marketplace, it is well worth trying to build a relationship with an agency you can trust.

One of the inevitable things about a recession is that “cowboy” organisations with no loyal client or candidate base start to struggle. This leaves the playing field open to the well established and more reputable organisations that don’t suddenly need to reinvent themselves in a different sector. (more…)
