Health and Safety Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per annum

Extremely prestigious construction and civil engineering contracting company has an urgent requirement for a Health and Safety Manager to be based in the company head office in Hertfordshire.

Your main duties and tasks will be to provide effective safety advice to a range of projects across the UK, specifically within the roads and highways upgrade sector, through the development of Safety, Health and Environmental policies, strategies and improvement action plans. You will need to show ability to develop and manage effective communication of Safety, Health and Environmental matters through appropriate safety meetings and recognised company communication channels.

It is important that you are comfortable with undertaking site visits, conduct safety audits and inspections, accident and incident investigations, preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements, plus be the first port of call for all general safety management and review and evaluation of legislative, company and group standards. It is essential that you have worked on major civil engineering projects, preferably roads and highways.

You will be confident in dealing with authorisation bodies and other relevant organisations and agencies, as well as be able to deliver dynamic training and to liaise at all levels. You will also have demonstrable experience of managing a team of more junior advisors.

You will be qualified to MIOSH status with additional awareness or qualifications in Environmental management. This is a challenging and interesting role and would suit a dynamic individual with expert management skills seeking an exciting and varied position with a major organisation.
