Our client is a specialist UK Civil Engineering Contractor and Design Consultancy with an enviable track record for delivering complex geotechnical schemes to time and budget within the UK Railway sector. Presently, they have a wonderful opportunity for a Principal / Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team working on major Foundation and Structures projects allied to the UK rail network.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Technical Director you will be accountable for producing and reviewing a wide range of geotechnical and structural designs for Foundations, Earthworks, Retaining Walls, Bridges, Piling (Bored, Driven, Screw) together with Underpinning  / Pin Foundations.  You will be responsible for prioritising workload in line with contract requirements, completing design sign offs including checking calculations, report analysis, carrying out site investigations and surveys, producing in-depth technical reports, acting as the ‘technical lead’ at bid stage, close liaison with the client and their representatives and controlling the output of a small team.

Additionally, you will be accountable for assisting the Technical Director with the development of Graduate Engineers.

Requirements:

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be Degree Qualified and a Chartered Engineer (MICE / C.ENG / MIstructE) with a wealth of experience in the design of Earthworks and Structures within the UK rail sector including Foundations, Earthworks, Retaining Walls, Bridges, Piling (Bored, Driven, Screw) together with Underpinning  / Pin Foundations. You will have amassed considerable knowledge of the workings of Network Rail, including a full understanding of their systems and procedures, be able to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines. You should also possess an in-depth working knowledge of Eurocodes.

You will be an excellent communicator with proven leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and supervise a team of Engineers. You will be client facing with the skill to lead bids and act as a technical lead for the company and produce quality, detailed technical reports as required.

This is a superb opportunity for a Principal / Senior Geotechnical Engineer with experience of the UK rail sector to work for a dynamic, progressive and leading Consulting organisation on major Rail Civil Engineering schemes.

This position will attract an excellent negotiable basic salary (circa £40,000 - £50,000 depending on your experience) together with a full benefits package to include Pension, Private Health Cover, Life Assurance and 25 days annual leave.
