Sustainability Team Leader

The consultancy arm of a leading UK civil engineering contractor is actively looking to appoint a Sustainability Team Leader to join them in their busy offices in Surrey.

A skilled business developer, one of the main elements of this new role will be to manage and grow a Sustainability consultancy capability within the business. This will involve the development of a business plan, focussing on providing solutions and advice to external and internal clients relating to sustainability policies, strategy, legislation and design. This will also involve leading and developing the team and the subsequent recruitment of new consultants to help deliver your projected growth.

You will be the accountable lead for the Sustainability business stream in terms of turnover, profitability, business development, and project performance, and all subsequent resource management to deliver agreed outcomes for sustainability advice, schemes, and monitoring.

In your team leader capacity, you will ensure that the Sustainability Team has adequate training and resources, plus assist in tenders and manage any other external parties and subcontractors. It is also critical that you have experience of providing professional sustainability advice, assessments, designs, and specifications for projects, as well as remaining up to date with all current and future legislation, best practice and innovation relating to sustainability, including climate change, carbon efficiency, energy demand, energy savings, water and fossil fuel consumption, bio-diversity, materials and recycling.

You will have relevant vocational qualifications, preferably from a recognised University, and will also hold membership of a relevant professional institute. It is imperative that you are familiar with consultancy working, with good people management and client facing skills, as well as previous experience of tendering for, and winning business. You will have experience of growing a business stream within a company, and be an expert in sustainability issues that impact on the UK civil engineering sector.
