Major player in the UK rail engineering sector has a new and exciting role for an Operations Manager to head up their UK rail electrification business.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to take their career to the next stage, as the role will have full business management responsibility for a large and profitable part of the organisation. You will be responsible for the performance of the electrification business unit, as well as the day to day management of a team of Project Managers and their staff.

Coming from a technical rail engineering background, you will have proven experience of operating at a senior management level within a rail engineering contractor. It is important that you have an in-depth knowledge of the UK overground rail industry, and will be confident at managing and motivating teams of engineers.

The role will involve frequent liaison with the client, subcontractors and a variety of internal stakeholders so you will be a confident communicator with the ability to present complex information at a high level. It is also important that you have experience of the commercial aspects of running a business unit and being able to deliver against targets and expectations. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrable experience of rail electrification, although we are also encouraging applications from those who have transferrable skills, such as permanent way or signalling/comms.
