As a large-scale manufacturing site with technical complexities within the Aerospace industry, our HSE policies are critical to our clients success in operating safely and efficiently.
We are looking for someone to join us as an Health, Safety & Environment Manager on our Gloucester site. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join out clients business and drive the HSE strategy forwards in line with the evolution of their business.
Their large manufacturing site has been there since the 1930s. Employing approximately 900 people in Gloucester, covering many areas including special process functions, machine shops and a laboratory. The size and diversity of our business in combination with the long-established nature of some of the buildings, and, the nearby brook on site, presents many challenges from an HSE perspective. The successful candidate will see this as an exciting opportunity.
In summary, the role will include;
• Management / development of the existing team
• Risk assessments / auditing
• Owning and driving change within the function, delivering weekly updates to the senior leadership team and making recommendations of change-proposals
• Developing, maintaining and improving the systems
In an ideal world, you’ll be undertaking a similar role within a similar organisation. However, we can be flexible on this. If you have worked in a manufacturing environment involving chemicals, large-scale machinery and complex products that are moved around site, then we would certainly be interested in hearing from you. You will also have knowledge of COSHH and COMAH. This is a Health, Safety and Environment position, so we would like you to at least have an understanding of Environment in the absence of practical experience.
You will also have some previous experience of line managing or leading a team, and have the aspiration to develop in this area. Finally, you will also need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to resource people / projects / finances.
In terms of qualifications you will either fully NEBOSH diploma qualified or, have completed at least two of the four modules, working actively towards completion.

To be successful in the role, you consider yourself to be a clear and effective communicator and demonstrate excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills. You are used to working in a challenging environment are not phased by a busy workload. You have the ability to prioritise and re-prioritise accordingly and consider yourself to be both a problem solver and an ideas person!
