Resourcing Solutions partnered with McNicholas on the prestigious Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Utilities Contract, at the Olympic Park. Covering a 12 month period, we were requested to supply resources covering site installations of multi-utilities including water, power, telecoms and gas.
- mains and service layers
- reinstatement gangs
- ground workers
- plant operators
- site managers
- project managers and planners
- designers and design managers
- health & safety managers
- environmental and geotechnical engineers
Given the short timescales to recruit, and the various processes in place to ensure compliance to ODA requirements, Resourcing Solutions developed a bespoke and robust registration process that ensured the quality of personnel and compliance requirements were met. At its peak, we had 60 people on the project at any one time.
What we did
To achieve the goals of our client and to meet the specific quality and compliance expectations of this project, we implemented a ‘quality plan’. The quality plan incorporated candidate attraction, registration, compliance, implementation and continued monitoring of the project.
We identified, planned and implemented a host of initiatives in order to meet the requirements of the project. This included recruiting local people and working in partnership with local government agencies.
Due to the nature of this project, we adopted a different contractual relationship with our workers ie fixed term contracts of employment. The contracts ensured that we had specific accountabilities and responsibilities in terms of quality, compliance and health and safety. We worked with McNicholas to ensure compliance to the ODA’s working arrangements including resource planning, industrial relations, diversity, equality and sustainability. We also carried out a range of activities including on-site auditing, random drug and alcohol checks and toolbox talks.
Due to the high profile nature and political pressures of this contract, Resourcing Solutions and McNicholas worked closely together at all stages of the project to ensure that the stringent requirements of the ODA were met. Working to tight timescales, we were able to mobilise resources quickly and within ODA compliance rules and procedures.
