Resourcing Solutions was invited to become a recruitment supplier for a major rail infrastructure client in the Middle East. This client was involved in constructing a comprehensive railway system for passengers and freight.
Following a successful tender, we were asked to source senior skilled candidates with over ten years’ experience within heavy civil and candidates that had worked on multi-billion USD programmes, tunnelling and bridge type works. Some of these positions included senior programme directors and project managers with backgrounds in major infrastructure projects.
With a shortage of such skills in the rail industry, the limited local talent in the sector and the tight timescales, this was always going to be a challenging project, especially as there were similar programmes active in other parts of the world.
What we did
Resourcing Solutions put together a delivery team which included an account director with extensive experience of working in the Middle East market with responsibility for the entire project. They were supported by two recruitment managers, a consulting expert and Resourcing Solutions’ internal resourcing team.
The internal resourcing team actively mined online candidate communities and used social media to attract passive rail candidates. Using the data collected, the team was able to carry out a skills mapping exercise to identify people with the right skills and project experience. We then shortlisted and approached those with the right skills.
Working with our marketing team, an online campaign was developed which encompassed the use of targeted Google pay per click campaigns and advertising on industry-specific job boards. The campaigns were designed to raise awareness of the client brand and in turn, attract relevant candidates to the jobs.
Resourcing Solutions was able to fill a number of key roles including a very senior position of project director critical to one section of the project. Our background on similar rail projects was a key factor in having the right network and our reputation with that network meant our calls were gratefully received.
We continue to work closely with the client’s HR team, and we recently had our contract extended. Since then we have gone on to identify a number of successful candidates to deliver the client’s rail projects.
