Safety critical specialist, Chris Spurdle works alongside rail teams during Christmas 2016

At Resourcing Solutions, our consultants are specialists in their niche area. This enables our teams to add real value to clients and candidates as they offer a truly consultative approach based on both knowledge and experience.

In order to develop this specialist knowledge, our consultants spend a lot of time working closely with candidates and clients including regular communication, meetings, site visits, and occasionally even work alongside them...

During the Christmas period 2016, our safety critical client relationship manager completed six night shifts alongside a client’s rail civils team on the Crossrail West project, based out of Kensal Green.

His main duties were to transport the team and materials to various access points as the designated mini bus driver. This helped Chris to strengthen his relationships with the team, get to know other workers and get hands on experience of the safety critical working environment.

He also spent time during this period, meeting the client’s national resource manager each evening to coordinate the labour requirements and logistics, and to react to any changes. He worked closely with the RSL on call manager during this extremely busy period to ensure a completely smooth and responsive process.

This is what Chris had to say about his experience of working with the client and the civils team:

We are normally involved in the planning of busy blockades but being on site during this peak time has enhanced my knowledge of what it is really like on the front line. Not only due to the large amount of work that needs to be delivered but how logistically things pan out on the night. It also strengthened my understanding of where the site access points are, how congested the worksites are and how important clear and concise instructions are to efficiently deliver work safely.

This knowledge and experience is so valuable when working with my clients and candidates, plus I have definitely earnt more respect from them as they feel I am committed to the cause and not just leaving work to enjoy Christmas at home.

Here is what the client’s National Resource Manager had to say about Chris and Resourcing Solutions’ involvement during the Christmas period.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have offered us over the festive period. Without the support of your staff we would not have been able to deliver the programme. The behaviour and conduct of your staff has been a credit to yourself.

You have supported me in my time working with the Crossrail Project and I am grateful. I hope you continue the level of service throughout 2017”.
